Only 5 More Months…

leave a comment »

Hello NFL football fans… with only 5 months left until the regular season of NFL football, I had to find something else to do with my time instead of playing online poker. If you have ever met someone like me then you will know that I am a great player… just never win when it counts. So because of the anguish and mental torture I have received from poker, I will give blogging a try. I figure it will help me save some money for when the NFL football season begins, meet some new friends with common interest and basically talk football.

Once I figure out how to use all the goodies on WordPress the plan is to provide my blog readers with all the information that I personally would want as a football fan and avid gambler. One of the most important aspects being a fan of the NFL is knowing what game is on at what time and on what channel, hence the blog name. Not only will I provide a televised NFL football schedule but be on the lookout for game articles, football betting odds, team and injury reports even game weather and whatever else I can think of.

This should be an exciting 2008 NFL Football schedule and I look forward to all your opinions and comments.

Please feel free to leave a comment about yourself, my articles, your favorite team or even about sports betting odds. After all… the bloggers is what this is all about.

Week 2 Televised NFL Preseason Games

After a disappointing 2007 NFL season, the Carolina Panthers look forward to getting their starting QB Jake Delhomme back in the huddle after elbow surgery. The arm will definitely be tested against Philadelphia with the newly acquired former Patriot CB Asante Samuel who brings with him 22 INT’s for a total of 313 yards in his 5 seasons with New England. The two teams will meet for week 2 of televised NFL preseason games on Thursday, Aug. 14 on FOX at 8 p.m. EST.

Two first-round QB’s meet for the first time in their careers during NFL preseason Week 2 action. JaMarcus Russell will get the start for the Raider nation when they travel to the Volunteer state to take on Vince Young and the Tennessee Titans for week 2 NFL preseason action Saturday, Aug. 16 on FOX at 8 p.m. EST.

In their first game since Super Bowl XLII, the New England Patriots try to regain what seemed to be perfection when they take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Tampa Bay has made many moves in the off-season to resign and acquire players like DE Kevin Carter, DB Eugene Wilson (Patriots), DE Marques Douglas (49ers), TE Ben Troupe (Titans) and WR Antonio Bryant (Cowboys). It will be interesting to see how Gruden pulls it all together Sunday, Aug. 1 on the NFL Network at 8 p.m. EST.

The New York Football Giants accomplished the improbable last year in Super Bowl XLII and will look to start the 2008 NFL preseason off of that success. Although Eli is the Golden Child, NY has signed QB David Carr to a one year deal… just in case. The Cleveland Browns will be looking to put aside the dismal (10-6-0) 2007 NFL season and get back on track against the reigning Super Bowl champions. Not only do they have the Giants to worry about but also staph infections.

The latest player to contract the infection is WR Joe Jurevivius. Jurevicious will be added to the list of Browns players who have contracted the infection over the past 4 years; C LeCharles Bentley, TE Kellen Winslow, WR Braylon Edwards, CB Brian Russell and LB Ben Taylor. The champions and the sickly go head to head in Week 2 of the NFL preseason Monday, Aug. 18 on ESPN at 8 p.m. EST.

My favorite fantasy football receiver for the past two years has been Marques Colston. Although last year he was off to a very shaky start, the lanky 6-4 WR was still able to rack up enough yards and catches to become a top ten receiver. So did the Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald who comes into his 5th NFL preseason Week 1 game and looks to capitalize on a year consisting of 100 receptions for 1,409 yards. The two top ten receivers hit the field for week 1 of televised NFL preseason games Thursday, Aug. 7 on ESPN at 8 p.m. EST.

The tearful retirement of Brett Favre meant opportunity for Packers QB Aaron Rodgers. The 4th year QB from California will get his starting debut against a Cincinnati Bengals team who just cut Chris Henry, their third-round draft pick from West Virginia. Coach Marvin Lewis and the Bengals head to cheese country Monday, Aug. 11 for week 1 of NFL preseason games on ESPN at 8 p.m. EST.
